The year 2017 marks 50 years of AMG, and as a part of the celebrations, Mercedes-AMG is presenting the GT3 Edition 50, a track-only collector’s item. The 2016 Nurburgring 24h winner is limited to just five units.

The special edition gets a lot of matte finish on the outside with generous carbon-fibre elements, including front and rear diffuser, rear aerofoil, flics at the front, air intakes, radiator grille and side skirts. There’s a new ‘real black’ paint finish on the inside, the first time for an AMG car.

The roll cage, as well as the visible floor assembly, are painted in this special colour real black. Dashboard, sills, door panels, vent pipe and centre console are styled in matt black carbon fibre. Silver-coloured six-point seat belts and the racing steering wheel in silver form an essential contrast. The collector’s item also has a seat shell in high-strength carbon-fibre for safety. The seat belts also bear the “50 Years of Driving Performance” logo with a silver surround. Further fine details include the AMG logos in the doors and sill, and the “Edition 50 -1 of 5” badge.

If you’re curious to know what’s under the hood, it’s not the 4.0-litre V8 biturbo, but the 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V8 with over 620 hp.

The car will be delivered directly in Affalterbach, where customers can experience exclusive insights into the world of AMG Driving Performance. In the 360-square-metre delivery hall, there is an extensive introduction to the new vehicle’s technical features and operation. On request, AMG GT3 Edition 50 customers can receive personal racetrack coaching as part of a commissioning event with the vehicle, added the company.
