According to several media reports, Volkswagen Group (Volkswagen Group Sales India), which runs several brands in India, including Skoda, Audi, Porsche, Bentley and Lamborghini, will skip the Auto Expo 2018.

The 2018 edition of the biennial event opens its doors on Feb 9th. Reportedly, VW Group’s decision to skip the 2018 Expo is over the concerns of return on investments. Not to mention the losses it suffered due to the emissions scandal, and global cut down on expenditures. Its not the first time carmakers have skipped the Motor Shows over “waste of money” reasons. Some big names had skipped the 2016 Paris Show.

General Motors too have decided to skip the 2018 Expo for obvious reasons. Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield, Nissan and Ford are also not expected to put up the stalls there. However, there is no confirmation yet.

It’ll be a disappointment for sure, but the up coming players such as Peugeot, Kia and SAIC’s MG Motors are expected to be there.
