Land Rover has unveiled the ultimate Discovery at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Developed by JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO), the Discovery SVX gets the familiar 5.0L Supercharged V8 we’ve seen in the other SVO creations.

Speaking of which, the V8 makes 525 PS and 625 Nm of torque in the SVX. The suspension has been modified to enhance driver confidence when tackling the toughest terrain, said the company. Complementing these hardware upgrades are software calibrations for the 8-speed automatic transmission with twin-speed transfer box.

The SVX gets Hydraulic Active Roll Control (H-ARC), which is for increased wheel articulation and improved body control, enhancing extreme off-road traction while also reducing body roll for on-road driving. Approach, departure and breakover angles has been improved by raising both the aluminium monocoque architecture and the four-corner air suspension system, employing long-travel dampers and revised knuckles, and fitting larger 815 mm diameter 275/55 Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tyres on 20-inch forged aluminium alloy wheels.

The SVX is also equipped with active centre and electronic rear locking differentials which work with the specially tuned Terrain Response 2 system to optimize traction on all surfaces. Hill Descent Control, Electronic Traction Control (ETC), Adaptive Dynamics, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) are present too.

Discovery SVX also features a model-first Pistol Shifter instead of the Drive select rotary shifter.
