Taiwanese electric start-up Xing Mobility has revealed the ‘Miss R’, which according to the company, is a rally-inspired electric supercar with on-road and off-road capabilities. Xing is currently testing the vehicle and aims to complete by the end of 2018.

‘Miss R’ is powered by 4 independent 350-volt motors producing a total of 1 Megawatt or 1,341 hp. The vehicle boasts four-wheel torque vectoring, and has a projected performance of 0-100 km/h in 1.8 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 5.1 seconds and a max speed of over 270 km/h.

The reveal comes shortly after Tesla announced their second-generation Roadster. But the Miss R doesn’t really want to compete with the Tesla Roadster. Xing said that they’ve designed the car with an entirely different aspiration: reaching unthinkable performance capabilities on-road, on-track and off-road, and achieving the kind of versatile driving experience that has never been available to drivers before.

Xing’s unique selling point is their in-house developed modular battery system called  ‘XING Battery System’ – which comes with patented cooling technology using 3M’s Novec 7200 Engineered Fluid. The battery pack has 98 stackable, LEGO-like modules with each containing 42 lithium-ion cells – a total of 4,116 cells. These cells are immersed directly in the aforementioned 3M fluid. Xing says that the number of cells here are about 30-50% less than that of other electric supercars currently being produced.

Also, Xing has taken an alternative approach by adopting a battery swap system that allows the entire battery enclosure to be exchanged within 5 minutes.

Xing aims to build 20 units for purchase in 2019, with a price tag of $1 Million.
