British motorcycle brand Triumph has launched the 2019 Bonneville Speed Twin in India, priced at Rs 9,46,000 ex-showroom, Pan India. The new Speed Twin is the return of a nameplate that existed between 1938-1940 and 1947-1966.

An iteration of the Thruxton R’s chassis forms the base for the new Bonneville Speed Twin. Thanks to a low seat height, the bike features a relaxed riding position with tapered handlebars, and a peg location that’s 38mm forward and 4mm lower than the Thruxton’s.

More features include LED lighting, twin clocks, USB charging socket, immobilizer, ABS, switchable traction control and optional Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The rider gets three riding modes – Sport, Road and Rain.

As for styling, the bike gets brushed aluminum parts for front & rear mudguards, side panel finishers, and heel guards. The headlight bracket is made of anodized forged aluminum.

Housed inside the tubular steel-aluminum cradle is a liquid-cooled 1,200 cc parallel-twin engine that offers Thruxton tuning, i.e., 97 hp at 6,750 rpm and 112 Nm of torque at 4,950 rpm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike also features torque-assist clutch.

As for suspension, the Speed Twin has 41mm front forks with cartridge damping and up to 120mm travel. The twin rear suspension set-up has adjustable spring preload and up to 120mm of travel. Both come from KYB.

Braking duties are handled by twin floating discs at front with Brembo 4-piston axial calipers, and a single disc at the rear with Nissin 2 piston floating caliper. The 7-spoke aluminum wheels are shod with Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3 tyres.
