As you might have guessed it already, the 1886 refers to the year when the Benz Patent Motorwagen was granted a patent. The three-wheeled car is widely regarded as the world’s first production automobile with an internal combustion engine. Fast forward to 2018, the all-electric EQC makes its debut; marking another big chapter for the three-pointed star. Mercedes-Benz is now looking back on how far the things have come, and it has been quite a fascinating story, to say the least.

The EQC Edition 1886 is here to convey the message, in a rather subtle way. It gets the grille louvres in high-gloss black and so are the Edition 1886 badges. The car is exclusively available in metallic high-tech silver finish, rounded off with 10-spoke 20-inch light-alloy wheels in high-gloss black with white decorative elements.

Inside, there are new seat designs with upholstery in Artico man-made leather and Dinamica microfibre in indigo blue and black. A special EQC Edition 1886 lettering is embroidered into the seat backrests. The lettering can also be found as a badge on the centre console.

Features list includes Burmester surround sound system. Buyers can go for Energizing package and further optional extras such as electrically adjustable driver and front passenger seats with memory function. Read more about the all-electric EQC here.

For the market launch, the EQC Edition 1886 serves as a reminder of the invention of the first automobile and we are emphasizing the pioneering spirit that sustains and characterizes us today more than ever. Back then, we were the ones to first revolutionize individual mobility. The EQC now once again marks the departure into a new era. An era in which electric mobility is reliable, simple and at the same time exciting. – Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars sales
