New BMW Z4 launched in India at Rs 64.90 lakh

BMW has launched the new generation Z4 in India, priced at Rs 64,90,000 for Z4 sDrive20i and Rs 78,90,000 for Z4 M40i. Both prices are ex-showroom, Pan India. The Z4 is being imported to India as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU).

The new Z4 made its global debut in August 2018, and is only available as a roadster. For those who want a coupe, the new Toyota Supra is the only other option.

The new Z4 is available in Alpine White as a non-metallic paintwork and in the following metallic finishes – Black Sapphire, Glacier Silver, San Francisco Red, Mineral White (sDrive20i), Mediterranean Blue (sDrive20i), Missano Blue and the optional Frozen Grey II.

Equipment list includes standard LED headlights or the optional Adaptive LEDs, Cerium Grey finish for the Kidney Grille, mirror caps and trapezoidal exhaust tailpipes, and 19-inch M light alloy wheels.

Buyers can add individual touches to the Z4 sDrive20i by opting for the Sport Line or M Sport package.

For the interiors, standard specification for the Z4 M40i includes leather and Alcantara with blue contrast stitching and blue piping. As an alternative to the standard Quartz Silver, the trim finishers can also be specified in High-Gloss Black, Aluminum Mesh effect or Aluminum Tetragon.

Feature list includes M sports seats with additional adjustment options, M leather steering wheel, 2-zone climate control, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster (part of the BMW Live Cockpit Professional), adaptive Navigation system with 3D maps, and wireless Apple CarPlay. Options list includes 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, full-color Head-Up Display, rear view camera assisted Parking Assistant function and Driving Assistant function.

The Z4 sDrive20i is powered by a 2.0-litre in-line 4-cylinder petrol engine, offering 145 kW (197 hp) and a maximum torque of 320 Nm at 1,450 – 4,200 rpm. 0 – 100 km/h acceleration is claimed to happen in 6.6 seconds.

The more powerful Z4 M40i packs a 3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder petrol engine that produces an output of 250 kW (340 hp) and a maximum torque of 500 Nm at 1,600 – 4,500 rpm. This one can do 0 – 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.

Both engines are paired to an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. Variable Sport Steering continuously adjusts the steering effort required depending on the current speed. The driver gets to choose between Ecopro, Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes.

The Adaptive M Sport suspension, M Sport brakes and M Sport differential are standard on the Z4 M40i.

Safety kit includes front and side airbags for the driver and passenger, ABS with Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), side-impact protection, and an emergency spare wheel.
