New BMW X5 launched at Rs 72.90 lakh

The 4th generation BMW X5 has now arrived in India, with prices starting at Rs 72.90 lakh ex-showroom, Pan India. Variant wise ex-showroom prices below –

While the diesel variants are available from today, the petrol variant will be available at a later date.

As we read last year, the new X5 has grown in size, with the wheelbase up by 42 mm. Standard equipment for India includes LED headlamps and tail lamps, Active Air Stream Kidney Grille (active flaps), panoramic glass roof, and 19-inch light alloy wheels.

Inside, standard features include Live Cockpit Professional with navigation, Apple CarPlay, 2.5-zone auto AC, Cruise Control with braking function, and driver seat electric adjustment with memory. The M Sport variant gets M Aerodynamics package, 20-inch M light alloy wheels, M Leather steering wheel,  Comfort seats with electrical adjustment, and more. The X5 also gets adaptive 2-axle air suspension. The driver can raise or lower the vehicle in an adjustment range of approx. 80 mm via a toggle switch in the centre console or via BMW Display Key.

The xDrive30d models are powered by a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo diesel engine that offers 195 kW (265 hp) at 4000 rpm and 620 Nm torque at 1500-2500 rpm. The diesel X5 is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 230 km/h.

The petrol xDrive40i packs a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder TwinPower Turbo unit too, producing 250 kW (340 hp) at 5500-6500 rpm and 450 Nm torque at 1500-5200 rpm. This one can do 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.5 seconds and can go up to a speed of 243 km/h, apparently.

An 8-speed Steptronic transmission sends power to the all four wheels via rear-biased xDrive AWD system. Features such as electronically controlled Automatic Differential Brakes/Locks (ADB-X), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control come in handy when off-roading.

Safety features include 6 airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor.
