It’s always a good idea to start with something small, especially when you’re venturing into unfamiliar territory. While Skoda has a couple of all-electric crossovers coming up, the Citigoᵉ iV is ready for the market as the first all‑electric production vehicle in the brand’s 124‑year history.

There are some changes compared to the ICE-powered Citigo. These include body-colored front grille, redesigned front bumper, standard fog lamps, black or body-colored wing mirrors with integrated turn signals, and alloy wheels ranging from 14- to 16-inches. You can also notice a camera at the centre-top of the windshield, which is for the standard Lane Assist feature.

At the rear, the Skoda lettering replaces the traditional Skoda logo. Buyers will have a choice of four standard colors and three metallic colors.

Standard features include front power windows, Climatronic, Swing II radio, Move&Fun smartphone docking station on the dashboard, and remote central locking. With the Move&Fun app, a mobile phone can be used as an additional display for vehicle data, media playback or as a navigation system. There’ll also be new mobile online services for the app, which allows certain features to be accessed remotely, such as battery (status) and air conditioning. The Citigoᵉ iV offers a boot capacity of 250 litres which can be expanded to 923 litres with the rear seats folded down.

The Style trim comes with ambient lighting on the dashboard, electrically adjustable and heated wing mirrors as well as the Leather Detailing package, which includes a leather steering wheel, gearstick and handbrake lever. The fabric-upholstered front seats are height adjustable; the door handles feature chrome decor. There is an option of a Comfort package, offering heated front seats, four additional speakers and parking sensors at the rear. A Winter Package is also exclusively available for the Citigoᵉ iV Style. In addition to heated front seats, this also includes heat-insulating glass for the windscreen, and rain and light sensor including an animated Coming/Leaving Home function. The list of options also includes an adjustable false boot floor, cruise control and tinted ‘Sunset’ glass for the rear window and rear side windows.

In addition to the aforementioned Lane Assist, safety features also include front airbags as well as head and thorax airbags for the front seats.

The electric motor at the front produces an output of 61 kW (83 hp) and 210 Nm of torque, propelling the EV from 60-100 km/h in 7.6 seconds. A 0-100 km/h sprint takes 12.5 seconds. If you’re interested to know, its top speed is 130 km/h.

The 36.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack is good for a range of up to 265 km (WLTP) on a single charge. From a DC rapid charging point, the flat battery can charge to 80% of total capacity in about an hour; with home wallbox, it should take about 4 hours to reach the same capacity, or just under 5 hours 30 minutes to fully recharge, Skoda said.

Series production of the Citigoᵉ iV will begin in the second half of 2019.
