The Civic Hatchback has received some updates for Model Year 2020, and is now on sale in the U.S. market with a starting MSRP of $22,580 (including $930 Destination Charges).

The styling updates on the exterior are rather subtle compared to 2019 models. These include revised styling of the lower bumper fog light housings, which now feature body-colored crossbar. The Honda-signature wing grille crossbar is also updated, and the headlights now feature a sporty blackout treatment. The rear-end mimics the changes on the front, with a new body-colored crossbar.

All trims feature new wheel designs, in either dark gray or black; Sport and Sport Touring trims get 18-inch alloy wheels. Honda says that the Sport Touring trims also benefit from improved LED headlights with wider and longer light beams.

Inside the 2020 Civic Hatchback, new dash trim differentiates various trim levels, with Sport trims receiving a new geometrical pattern, LX and EX a new painted pattern, and EX-L and Sport Touring an exclusive brushed black treatment. The EX trim also adds an 8-way power driver’s seat in place of manual adjustments, plus a new leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

Sport Touring trim now gets HomeLink feature – a remote system to open garage doors and gates. All Civic Hatchbacks also benefit from additional sound insulation in the floor, trunk, and front and rear fenders, Honda said.

The Civic Hatchback continues to be powered by a 1.5-litre (1498 cc) in-line 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, with an output of 180 hp at 5500 rpm and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque at 1900 – 5000 rpm when paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. With CVT, the output drops to 174 hp and 162 lb-ft (220 Nm) of torque. Sport and Sport Touring trims can be had with a 6-speed manual.

Other updates for the 2020 Model Year for Sport trims include a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, 8 speakers, Smart Start push button ignition and Smart Entry (keyless entry). Sport trims equipped with CVT also come with remote start for the first time.

Rest of the features are carried over from the outgoing model such as the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assistive systems as standard equipment on all trims. These include Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping Assist System.

Sport Touring trim gets a 12-speaker, 540-watt premium audio system; Satellite-Linked Navigation System with Voice Recognition, 4-way power adjustable front passenger seat, and a Compass too as part of the Driver Information Interface features. The Sport Touring carries an MSRP of $29,780 including $930 Destination Charges.
