2020 Kia Mohave revealed with muscular looks

Kia is working on a second generation Mohave, also known as Borrego in some markets, and a couple of images offer a first look at the upcoming mid-size SUV.

The near-production model looks almost identical to the Masterpiece concept that was showcased at the 2019 Seoul Motor Show earlier this year. It seems like Kia wants to give the new Mohave its own identity, which is why the SUV doesn’t carry KIA badges at both ends. As with the concept, the signature tiger nose grille is filled with thick vertical slats which continue into the headlamps as well.

For the taillamps, the designers have tried to mimic the vertical slats of the front grille and headlamps. The boxy side profile looks more or less the same as the outgoing model. Not much details are available at the moment, however, we can see 3.0 V6 and 4WD badges at the rear.

For the interiors, the utilitarian looks will be replaced with something high-tech that looks very German. We can notice a driver-focused cockpit design with a touchscreen next to the instrument cluster. We can also notice the double stitching on the dashboard top section and on the door pads, and wood trims as well.

The 3.0-litre V6 CRDi diesel engine in the current Mohave develops 255 hp and 549 Nm of torque, and is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 4WD system offers 4H and 4L modes, and a rear-biased Auto mode as well.

The new Mohave is expected to borrow its underpinnings with the Telluride.
