It seems like every carmaker now wants to get into the growing trend of e-scooters, which is a good thing since our congested cities always need better and efficient ways to get around. Not too long ago, we saw Audi’s skateboard-e-scooter combination. This time, Hyundai has come up with an even more interesting e-scooter.

The prototype is a further developed version of the concept presented at CES 2017. The new model boasts rear-wheel drive, front suspension, and stylish front and rear lights. Hyundai says that the 2019 model’s shift from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive is key in enhancing safety and stability as it positions weight near the rear.

What’s more interesting is that the e-scooter has been designed to be integrated into future Hyundai and Kia vehicles; either in the B-pillars, inside the front doors (the place where typically umbrellas are stored), front fenders, or just under the rear license plate. When on-board the vehicle, the e-scooter is charged automatically.

The electric scooter features a 10.5 Ah lithium-ion battery, good for a range of up to 20 km on a single charge. Apparently, the e-scooter can reach a top speed of up to 20 km. It also features a digital display that shows battery status and speed.

This is the vehicle-mounted personal scooter which could be featured in future Hyundai Motor Group vehicles. We want to make our customers’ lives as easy and enjoyable as possible. Weighing around 7.7 kg, the scooter is highly portable, while its unique and compact tri-folding design means it is lighter and more compact than any similar product, Hyundai said.
