I know, some of you might disagree with the words “Aston Martin” and “motorcycle” together in a sentence. But remember, Aston Martin is aiming to become a luxury brand that is not limited to cars. The brand is also looking at yachts, submarines, residences, and maybe even a personal aircraft in the future.

Why not a motorcycle then? To answer the question, Aston Martin has partnered with Brough Superior to create this AMB 001, which made its debut at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy. As we can see, the motorcycle borrows the design elements from Aston Martin’s production cars. The example here is presented in the traditional Aston Martin Racing colours of Stirling Green and Lime Essence with Matte Black wheels, forks and brake assemblies.

The components such as the mudguards, front scoop, rear fin, and the engine guard are all in naked carbon fibre. The hand-stitched saddle is upholstered in Oxford Tan leather.

Aston Martin says that the aerodynamics have dictated the design and curves of the motorcycle. The front cowl design and its wings all come from Aston Martin cars. Besides the carbon fibre, the materials used to build the motorcycle include titanium and billet aluminium.

We are very proud to see the Aston Martin wings on a motorcycle for the first time. In addition to applying the skills we have developed for cars such as the ground breaking Aston Martin Valkyrie we have also been able to bring our special expertise in the traditional craft techniques to this project. The finished product is a truly beautiful motorcycle; a design and engineering work of art. – Marek Reichman, Aston Martin Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer

As for the business end, the motorcycle is powered by a 997 cc, oil-cooled, V-Twin turbocharged engine with an output of 134 kW (180 bhp). The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with an APTC Clutch. The exhaust manifold is made from Inconel. Not much technical details are available at the moment, but we can see the front suspension which is similar to that of the BMW duolever. Thanks to generous usage of carbon fibre including for the rear sub frame and body parts, the motorcycle weighs 180 kg dry.

The AMB 001 is a track-only motorcycle aimed at collectors. Only 100 units will be built in the Brough Superior factory in Toulouse, France. Each unit will carry a price tag of €108,000 including 20 percent VAT. First deliveries are set to begin from Q4 2020.
