COVID-19 pandemic: Hyundai Alabama plant to remain shut till March 31

Hyundai-Motor-Manufacturing-Alabama

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) has decided to extend its suspension of production in Montgomery, Alabama, as it anticipates a major decline in market demand related to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

HMMA will suspend production beginning March 23, through Tuesday, March 31, 2020. This suspension will reduce production by approximately 10,000 vehicles during these 7 days.

HMMA said that the company will compensate the team members during this time. Approximately 3,000 HMMA team members living in Montgomery and surrounding areas will be affected by this temporary suspension of production.

The rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic is requiring Hyundai to carefully manage its manufacturing operations to adjust production to the foreseeable market demand. We will continue to monitor the situation and take appropriate action in a timely manner.
