The MG ZS SUV has received a facelift for the UK and Thailand markets, which gives us an idea of what’s in store for the Indian market as well. No, MG India will most likely not offer the new ZS, but the new styling might trickle down to the ZS EV that’s already on sale in the country.

The front fascia looks a lot more cleaner and contemporary compared with the pre-facelift ZS. The grille is now a hexagonal shape with subtle chrome lining, which looks very tasteful. The new LED headlights get an L-shaped running light signature, while the restyled bumper with new fog lamp housing adds a touch of sportiness.

The side profile remains largely unchanged except for a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the new taillights mimic the shape of the headlights including the L-shaped light signature. The rear bumper too mimics that of the front. Also, notice the cheesy fake exhaust inserts; the actual exhaust pipe is facing down and is visible on the left side.

Inside, the dashboard has received minor styling tweaks, which make the new 10-inch touchscreen system appear floating. Other features include a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, a 6-speaker audio system, cruise control, and safety features such as airbags (front, side and curtain), ABS with EBD, TPMS, ESP, Hill Launch Assist, 360-degree camera, and Blind Spot Monitoring.

Powering the new ZS is a 1.5-litre (1,498 cc) 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 106 hp at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm (104 lb-ft) of torque at 4,500 rpm. The Thai market seems to be getting a bit more: 84 kW (114 hp) and 150 Nm (111 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission in the UK while the Thailand market gets a CVT.
