The official F1 safety car – the Mercedes-AMG GT R, is now sporting a new livery that supports diversity and the fight against racism. A rainbow graphics symbolizing the pride flag with “WeRaceAsOne” wordmark is featured on the car’s side profile and on the bonnet.

In addition to WeRaceAsOne campaign, the safety car also features “Drive Safely” on the bonnet, urging the fans who’ll be watching the races on TV and online to always drive safely.

The GT R succeeded the GT S as the Official FIA F1 Safety Car in 2018 with Bernd Mayländer at the steering wheel. Mechanically, the safety car remains mostly unchanged from the production version except for the inclusion of optional features such as the AMG Track Package with roll-over protection and the ceramic composite brake system.
