2021 Toyota Sequoia debuts with a Nightshade Special Edition

Toyota has updated the Sequoia full-size SUV for Model Year 2021 with a Nightshade Special Edition. Also, the TRD Pro variant gets a new Lunar Rock exterior paint for 2021. Below are the trim-wise prices for the U.S. market.

The new Lunar Rock color replaces the Army Green in the TRD Pro color palette. Other available colors on the TRD Pro include: Super White, Magnetic Gray Metallic and Midnight Black Metallic.

The Nightshade Edition is based on the Limited trim. The exterior is finished in Midnight Black Metallic or Magnetic Gray Metallic, with darkened chrome ‘Sequoia’ badging, body moldings, lower grille and fog light surrounds. The Special Edition will also be available in Blizzard Pearl.

The Nightshade Edition’s cabin features an all-black theme with black leather upholstery. The 2021 Sequoia comes with Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P) as standard on every trim. The active safety systems include Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with Sway Warning System (SWS), Automatic High Beams (AHB), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).

Powertrain
In the U.S. market, the Sequoia continues to be powered by a 5.7-litre V8 gasoline engine that pumps out 386 metric hp (284 kW) at 5,600 rpm and 544 Nm (401 lb-ft) of torque at 3,600 rpm. Gearbox is a 6-speed automatic that drives the rear wheels as standard.

On 4WD models, Traction Control (TRAC) is replaced by A-TRAC (Active-Traction Control). Also included for 4WD models is a limited-slip centre differential with locking function.

The TRD Pro models get TRD FOX shocks with piggyback reservoirs.
