The R18 was revealed in April this year, with the design inspiration coming from the R5 of the 30s. It had a boxer engine. The R18’s design elements such as the double cradle steel frame, the teardrop tank, the exposed driveshaft, and the paintwork with finely drawn double pinstripes (First Edition), all come from the aforementioned 1936 boxer motorcycle.

Also, notice the ‘Berlin Built’ inscriptions. The feature list includes LED lighting, ABS, and riding modes (Rock, Roll and Rain). The First Edition gets extras such as Hill Start Control, Headlight Pro, Adaptive Headlight, and Daytime Riding Light First Edition Pack.

The 1.8-litre (1,802 cc) two-cylinder boxer engine in the R18 develops 91 hp (67 kW) at 4,750 rpm and 158 Nm (116 lb-ft) of torque between 2,000–4,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is claimed to do a top speed of over 180 km/h (112 mph). Download the specifications sheet here.
