That’s right. The Kia Seltos is celebrating its 1st year anniversary in India with a special edition, with prices starting at INR 13.75 lakh, ex-showroom. According to reports, the special edition is in fact a limited edition, limited to 6,000 units. However, it’ll be available in petrol and diesel variants –

 Seltos Anniversary Edition
1.5L Petrol MT INR 13.75 lakh
1.5L Petrol IVT INR 14.75 lakh
1.5L Diesel MT INR 14.85 lakh

As you might have guessed already, the Anniversary Edition is all about cosmetic treatment, for those who think the regular Seltos isn’t already blingy enough. It is based on the HTX trim and gets some plastic inserts such as the front & rear skid plates and side body cladding, and 17-inch Raven Black alloy wheels. The red accents you see all around are called ‘Tangerine Inserts’, according to Kia, and they especially draw a lot of attention towards the fake exhaust tips as if the regular fake exhaust tips weren’t loud enough. Kinda reminds me of Mr. Bean wearing lipstick in one of those episodes. What is so “BADASS” about those crappy fake plastics again? Sometimes I wonder if Bad and Ass, two separate words, are mistakenly being written as Badass in the commercials.

‘Crown Jewel’ LED headlights and ‘Heartbeat’ LED taillights are standard.

Besides the Aurora Black Pearl monotone color we’re seeing here, there are 3 dual-tone finishes to choose from – Glacier White Pearl with Aurora Black Pearl roof, Steel Silver with Aurora Black Pearl roof, and Gravity Grey with Aurora Black Pearl roof.

The cabin gets Raven Black leatherette seats with honeycomb pattern. The rest of the features include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 6 speakers, ambient lighting, and electric sunroof. Safety equipment includes dual front airbags and ABS with EBD. Download the Seltos Anniversary Edition brochure here.

No mechanical changes, obviously. The 1.5L petrol engine pumps out 115 hp and 144 Nm (106 lb-ft) of torque, and can be paired with either a 6-speed MT or a CVT (branded as IVT). The 1.5L diesel motor dishes out 115 hp and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque, and is paired with a 6-speed MT.

Watch this commercial above. Even the ad agency was so embarrassed to show those fake exhausts that they skipped it altogether. Anyway, let’s see how tasteless the Indian consumer is.
