Renault is Kwidding again with the Kiger

Renault has revealed the ‘Kiger’ concept, specially designed for the Indian market. The Kiger is, of course, Renault’s version of the Nissan Magnite sub-4 metre crossover that is all set to go on sale in the country.

The Kiger looks like a further jacked-up version of the very successful Kwid, which in fact, became successful due to its jacked-up SUV-ish looks. It is actually true because the Kwid’s ground clearance is at 184 mm while the Kiger’s is 210 mm.

The production version is expected to retain the dual-lamp set-up with the top one being an LED running light signature while the bottom ones are the actual headlights. The double ‘C’ signatures at the rear, are expected to make it to the production model as well. What is not expected in the production model, however, is that centralized (real) exhaust outlet, although a fake insert might be expected.

The concept is finished in ‘Aurora Borealis’, a greenish color that changes according to the light and the angle from which it is viewed. It is combined with Fluorescent touches. Those concept wheels measure 19-inches, housed within square-ish wheel arches.

Since this is a concept, we don’t have a lot of things to talk about. However, it has to be said that the production model is expected to snatch a major chunk of the sub-4 metre SUV segment in India, which is currently dominated by the Japanese and Koreans.

Thanks to the Duster, Kwid and Triber models, Renault is the leading European brand in India. Renault Kiger, a compact SUV of less than 4 meters, and different from the ones we see on the roads today, will strengthen our presence and help us to win new customers. – Fabrice Cambolive, SVP, Chairman of AMI-Pacific Region, Groupe Renault
