Bentley Bacalar will do more than 322 km/h

Remember the Bentley Bacalar we saw earlier this year? Well, the Mulliner division has built the Car Zero — a first prototype that’ll undergo 20-week rigorous testing to deliver engineering validation for the project ahead of the build of 12 pre-sold customer cars.

The prototype is munching miles across Europe. So far, the car has completed wind tunnel aerodynamic assessment, high-speed stability and top speed testing, handling and dynamics evaluations, noise and vibration improvements, and thermal measurements. The final tests will be climate cycle testing at up to 80°C and intensive electrical system validation. Bentley said that the top speed run has proved the car’s Vmax to be over 322 km/h (200 mph).

Although based on the Continental GT, the Bacalar will have more than 750 new components, of which, more than 40 are made of carbon fibre and about 100 parts are 3D printed. Mulliner will start building the customer cars from early 2021.
