Polestar 1 bids goodbye with a special edition

Polestar-1-Special-Edition

The Polestar 1 might have not become the “one” the brand was hoping for, but it certainly is a stunning-looking automobile with some impressive output figures. The Polestar 1 production is coming to an end this year, but not without building a few special edition models, of course.

Only 25 units of these special editions will be built, finished in a bespoke matte gold exterior paint with matching calipers and black wheels. The rest of the features have been carried over from the standard model, such as a lightweight body made from carbon fibre reinforced polymer, Akebono brakes and adjustable Öhlins dampers.

The cabin too has color matching going on with gold-colored seat belts and contrast stitching. The rest all remain the same. The Polestar 1 is an AWD PHEV that combines a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that is both supercharged and turbocharged, and two electric motors (85 kW/116 metric hp each) that power the rear wheels. In addition, the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) adds 52 kW (71 metric hp) more. The combined figures for the U.S. market are 462 kW (628 metric hp) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. For European markets, the power output is 447 kW (608 metric hp). The car’s 34 kWh battery pack is claimed to offer an estimated pure electric range of up to 96.5 km (60 miles).

Price? Not disclosed, but the standard model starts at $155,000 in the U.S. and €155,000 in Germany and £139,000 in the UK.
