Hop Electric Mobility reveals e-scooters with swappable batteries

Hop Electric Mobility — a new player in the Indian electric two-wheeler space, has launched a couple of electric scooters named Hop Leo and Hop Lyf, priced at INR 72,500 and INR 65,500, respectively. The company claims to be having a 40,000 square feet manufacturing facility in Jaipur that is capable of producing 50,000 vehicles per year and expandable up to 1 lakh units. There’s also a plan to set up a new manufacturing unit in South India by the end of 2022.

These scooters have a styling very similar to ICE-powered popular Japanese scooters in the country. Features of the Leo include a 2700-watt (3.7 metric hp) wheel hub motor, a top speed of 60 km/h (37 mph), and a range of 125 km (78 mi) on a single charge. The Lyf on the other side claims a 2000-watt (2.7 metric hp) wheel hub motor, a top speed of 50 km/h (31 mph), and also a range of 125 km on a single charge. Perhaps, the most important feature these scooters boast is that the batteries are swappable.

The company said that it is planning to set up a network of battery swapping cum charging stations. Hop is running a pilot network of 5 swapping stations in Jaipur.
