Skoda Kushaq — the tailor-made compact crossover for India that debuted earlier this year, has entered series-production at Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVIPL) plant in Chakan, Pune, with deliveries to customers scheduled to start in July 2021. Prices are yet to be announced. Its German cousin Taigun will also be produced at the same location, but Volkswagen is yet to fully reveal the production version.

Both Kushaq and Taigun are part of SAVIPL’s India 2.0 project and are underpinned by a derivative of MQB-A0 platform named MQB-A0-IN. Gurpratap Boparai, Managing Director of SAVIPL said that the company has achieved 95% localization.

We have managed to achieve localization levels up to 95%, which truly puts the engineering and manufacturing expertise of India on the global map. With Skoda Kushaq, we will be present in one of the fastest-growing segments of the automotive industry. We look forward to offering customers an SUV that stands out for its emotive design, unmatched performance, superior build quality, outstanding safety, and numerous Simply Clever solutions, enabling an exemplary value proposition.
