Renault showcased the new Trafic SpaceNomad campervan at the Düsseldorf Motor Show, with plans to launch it in select European markets in early 2022, including Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark and France. The Trafic has been converted to SpaceNomad by French campervan manufacturer Pilote.

Features include a large two-burner stove with piezo ignition, combined with a sink with an integrated tap; a 49-litre refrigerator, a stand-alone table that can be stored in the boot, a bed in the pop-up roof (120 x 200 cm), and a rear bench seat that converts into a bed (124  x 188 cm). And there’ll also be an outdoor shower to freshen up.

Apparently, the front two seats swivel inwards “to create a roomy and welcoming living space”. Full LED headlights, an 8-inch touchscreen, a wireless smartphone charger, up to 34 litres of storage space at the front, and ADAS such as active emergency braking, lane departure warning, driver monitoring system and blind spot warning are some of the other features of the Trafic SpaceNomad.

Another campervan Renault showcased is a 5-star hotel-inspired Hippie Caviar Hotel. It is in a concept stage and features a bed that extends outwards through the rear hatch—”to take in the open countryside”, and a roof terrace “to feel the winds of freedom”. For a proper 5-star experience, Renault plans to include drone meal deliveries and a concierge service. And unlike the SpaceNomad, the Hippie Caviar Hotel is electric.
