Lexus has updated the LS 500 for 2022 for the U.S. market, with prices starting at $76,000. Highlights include standard Lexus Safety System+ 2.5, enhanced ride quality, and more optional features.

Trim Engine MSRP
LS 500 RWD 3.5L V6 twin-turbo $76,000
LS 500 AWD 3.5L V6 twin-turbo $79,250
LS 500 F Sport RWD 3.5L V6 twin-turbo $79,600
LS 500 F Sport AWD 3.5L V6 twin-turbo $82,850

In terms of the styling, the 2022 model doesn’t look any different compared with the outgoing model, not that it needed to. The optional F Sport package gets you a more sporty front and rear fascias and unique 20-inch wheels wrapped in either summer performance or all-season tyres. The 2022 LS 500 will be offered with 9 exterior color options depending on the trim: Ultra White, Eminent White Pearl, Atomic Silver, Manganese Luster, Iridium, Obsidian, Caviar, Matador Red Mica and Nightfall Mica.

As for enhancing the ride quality, Lexus said that it has made some suspension tweaks to “achieve a smoother, more comfortable ride without sacrificing any of the current model’s dynamic character”. The suspension setup features revised spring and damper rates for improved damping performance. To better control the body roll at corners or turns, the diameters of the front and rear anti-roll bars have been optimized.

For the interior, a new Haku ornamentation option is available as an option on models equipped with Luxury or Executive packages. The creation of Haku foil is a 400-year-old Japanese technique, made by meticulously flattening a piece of metal until it becomes as thin as one ten-thousandths of a millimeter. The Executive package can also be optioned with Kiriko Glass ornamentation and hand-folded pleats on the door cards. The base LS models get an option of Mark Levinson 23-speaker, 2,400-watt Quantum Logic Immersion Reference audio system.

A 12.3-inch central touchscreen comes standard and so is Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa compatibility. A 24-inch color head-up display is optional.

The Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 suite of safety and ADAS comes standard on all 2022 LS 500 models. The suite includes Pre-Collision System (includes Frontal Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Detection and Bicyclist Detection), All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist.

The LS 500 is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine that pumps out 310 kW (416 bhp/421 metric hp) and 599 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. The engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. In RWD form, the LS 500 is claimed to deliver a 0-60 mph (96.5 km/h) time of 4.6 seconds. The AWD models feature a Torsen limited-slip center differential. The torque distribution can vary from 31% front to 69% rear on dry roads to as much as 48% front to 52% rear on slick surfaces.
