Tata Motors has launched a long-range version of the Nexon EV called the Nexon EV MAX, with prices starting at INR 17.74 lakh, ex-showroom, Pan India. The MAX is available in two trims and with two charger options:
|Trims||Charger||Ex-showroom price (INR)|
|Nexon EV MAX XZ+||3.3 kW||17,74,000|
|Nexon EV MAX XZ+||7.2 kW AC fast-charger||18,24,000|
|Nexon EV MAX XZ+ Lux||3.3 kW||18,74,000|
|Nexon EV MAX XZ+ Lux||7.2 kW AC fast-charger||19,24,000|
Unsurprisingly, the Nexon EV MAX looks nothing different compared with your regular Nexon EV, except for a different wheel design. There’s no ‘MAX’ badge, which means the only visual differentiation are the wheels. Key exterior features include projector headlights, LED taillights, 16-inch Diamond-cut alloy wheels, and an electric sunroof with tilt (XZ+ Lux). Dual-tone paint finish is standard on both trims.
Inside, you get a 7-inch infotainment system, a 7-inch MID, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, auto AC, rear AC vents, wireless smartphone charging pad, and 4 speakers + 4 tweeters. Safety kit includes two front airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, rear defogger, front fog lights, and more.
Moving on to the juicy bits of the story, the Nexon EV MAX still packs a single front electric motor, but the output figures here are 105 kW (143 metric hp) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque, which are 10 kW (14 metric hp) and 5 Nm (3.7 lb-ft) more than the standard range Nexon EV. The battery pack capacity is 40.5 kWh, which is 10.3 kWh more than in the standard range car. The official range (claimed as per ARAI certification) is 437 km (271.5 mi), which is 125 km (78 mi) more than what the standard range car had claimed originally. With a 7.2 kW AC fast charger, Tata claims 0-100% SoC in about 6.5 hours. Tata is offering 8 year or 1.6 lakh km warranty on motor and battery.
The official 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time for those interested to know, is 9 seconds, which is 0.9 seconds quicker than the standard range car.
