British sports car maker TVR is showcasing the rebirth of the Griffith at IAA 2017. With a limited run of just 500 Launch Edition units, the Griffith seems to have found most of its buyers already, including popular YouTuber Shmee150.
As for the design, the Griffith seems to have been inspired by many cars. While the front fascia kinda reminds you of the Rimac, the rear reminds you of the Toyota FT-1. Nonetheless, it’s a design that quickly grows on you.
The last Griffith (Griffith 500) too, which was produced until 2001, had a 5.0L V8 with an output of 340 hp and 475 Nm of torque. This time, the Griffith is featuring a Cosworth-made 5.0L V8, paired with Tremec’s 6-speed manual. We don’t know the output figures yet, but TVR says that the car has a class-leading 400 bhp per tonne power-to-weight ratio. As per media reports, the new car makes about 480 – 500 hp.
Gordon Murray Design’s iStream process for chassis promises exceptional torsional rigidity. The vehicle’s carbon composite construction boasts a rigidity of almost 20,000 Nm per degree and is also designed to direct impact force to the tyres for increased safety, said TVR. The new car also features airbags, ABS and ESP.
TVR says the price is less than £90,000 with a deposit of £5,000.
