McLaren has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of a safety recall for some of its models including the Senna. This is the second recall for the Senna; the hypercar was recalled in September 2019 to fix a wiring harness bundle.
The new problem involves the 570 GT (2017-2019), 720S (2016-2020), GT (2020), and of course, the Senna (2019). The total number of potentially affected cars is estimated to be 2,763 units.
McLaren suspects that the Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) foam pad underneath the fuel tank may retain moisture and corrode the fuel tank, potentially causing a fuel leak, which of course, increases the risk of a fire. McLaren will notify owners, and dealers will remove the NVH foam pad and inspect the fuel tank. If the fuel tank is found to have corroded, it will be replaced. Repairs will, of course, be free of charge.
