Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 creates an exclusive new club

In 2021, an exclusive new club will be formed that’ll have only 40 members. They’re, of course, the owners of this track-only hypercar called Lamborghini Essenza SCV12, and they’ll be granted access to special programs to drive their hypercars on the most prestigious circuits in the world.

The program also includes storage service in a new hangar built in Sant’Agata Bolognese for the Essenza SCV12 club. Each car will have a personalized garage and dedicated services, including webcams that’ll enable the owners to monitor their cars 24 hours a day via an app.

As for the car itself, it is every bit extreme as a Lamborghini should be. At this point, the brand ‘Lamborghini’ should be synonymous with the term “extreme”. As always, the folks at Centro Stile have generously donated the hexagons and Y shapes in addition to gaps, gapes and sharp creases everywhere.

The front splitter has two lateral elements while at the rear, there’s a massive, double-profile adjustable wing. Lamborghini estimates the downforce to be higher than a GT3 car, with over 1,200 kg (2,645 lbs) at 250 km/h (155 mph).

The interior is equally extreme. However, it is not extreme enough to get rid of the passenger seat and air conditioning so that you can take a friend along for those track days.

The Essenza SCV12 is built around a new-generation carbon fibre monocoque chassis without a roll cage. In fact, a new X-trac 6-speed sequential gearbox becomes a structural element of the chassis, and the push-rod rear suspension is bolted directly onto the gearbox. Lamborghini says that the car complies with the FIA prototype safety rules.

As the name suggests, the Essenza SCV12 is powered by a naturally aspirated V12 motor that is estimated to develop over 830 hp. The Capristo exhaust system reduces back pressure and improves performance, while also delivering a unique exhaust note. The aforementioned 6-speed sequential gearbox drives the rear wheels. The weight-to-power ratio is estimated to be 1.66 kg/hp.

The track calendar will start in 2021 with “arrive and drive” events held at numerous FIA Grade 1 homologated circuits. The Squadra Corse technical staff will be present to assist, with support from Emanuele Pirro — five-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner and Marco Mapelli — Lamborghini Squadra Corse Factory Driver.
