Lamborghini Urus SE Performante

That’s right, the Urus Performante and the Urus SE have mated to produce the Urus SE Performante, the most powerful Urus yet. Clearly, those 800 horses in the Urus SE were not enough, were they? Or maybe, there was nothing better to do. Either way, the Urus SE Performante is here, billed as “the fastest Super SUV in the world”.

The Urus SE Performante wears a more aggressive bodykit, as you may expect, with lots of carbon fibre elements, including a rear spoiler. The rear diffuser, for example, is the largest ever fitted on an Urus. There are lots of hexagon or hexagonal-ish shapes going on, and the rear fascia, especially, was apparently inspired by that of the Countach. Those gigantic 23-inch wheels are exclusively designed for the Urus SE Performante, but I’m sure there’ll be other options as well. The rims are wrapped with model-specific Pirelli P Zero tyres.  As for aerodynamics, Lamborghini claims a 3% reduction in drag compared with the Urus SE, while 16% increase in downforce compared with the Urus Performante and 23% compared with the Urus SE. Other improvements include an 8% increase in brake cooling efficiency.

One of the key highlights of the Urus SE Performante is the so-called AURA System dual-chamber air suspension. According to Lamborghini, this system not only halves body roll during dynamic driving but also reduces vibrations by 25% compared with the Urus Performante, significantly increasing comfort. As the name suggests, the system comprises two chambers with two valves. The primary chamber located at the upper section is dedicated to pure dynamics and track driving, while the secondary chamber focuses more on comfort.

The Urus SE Performante also boasts something called the 6D Sensor, strategically positioned near the vehicle’s center of gravity. The device measures six different physical parameters: accelerations along the three spatial axes and angular velocities related to pitch, roll, and yaw movements, and feeds the data to vehicle electronic systems such as the Integrated Power Brake (IPB), ABS, Traction Control System (TCS), and the Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC).

Moving on to the business-end of the story then, the Urus SE Performante is a PHEV. It combines a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 and a permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor integrated into the ZF 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission, just like in the Urus SE we saw over two years ago. The battery pack is also the same 25.9 kWh. The combined figures in this case are 596 kW (810 metric hp) at 6,000 rpm and 1,000 Nm (737.5 lb-ft) available between 2,000 and 5,500 rpm. Compared with the Urus SE, you get 10 more horses with an extra 50 Nm. As for the kerb weight, the Urus SE Performante claims 2,473 kg (5,452 lbs), about 32 kg (70.5 lbs) less than the Urus SE. The Akrapovič titanium exhaust system itself is claimed to save 10 kg (22 lbs).

The official 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint time is 3.3 seconds, 0.1 seconds quicker than the Urus SE, while the top speed is claimed to be 312 km/h (194 mph). Inside, you get the new Rally mode, specifically calibrated for dirt surfaces. The EV mode allows up to 60 km (37 mi) range with speeds of up to 130 km/h (81 mph).
