India Yamaha Motor (IYM) has launched the FZ-X — billed as a “Neo-Retro motorcycle”, with prices starting at INR 116,800 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. A version that offers Bluetooth connectivity is priced at INR 1,19,800 (ex-Delhi). IYM also announced that the first 200 customers who book online will get a limited edition Yamaha G-Shock watch.

As the name suggests, the FZ-X is based on the 150 cc FZ variants and appears to be IYM’s attempt at replicating a more expensive XSR155 that is sold in Thailand. The circular LED headlight with integrated running lights looks quirky, but that’s part of the “neo-retro” styling. Other than that, the motorcycle gets an LCD instrument display that can show alerts from the phone such as SMS or a missed call (when paired with Yamaha Y-Connect app via Bluetooth). Bosch single-channel ABS comes standard.

Buyers can choose from three colors: Metallic Blue, Matt Copper and Matt Black. Powering the motorcycle is, of course, a 149 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke engine that develops 9.1 kW (12.4 metric hp) at 7,250 rpm and 13.3 Nm (10 lb-ft) of torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
