Bugatti Brouillard debuts as a one-off homage

Bugatti-Brouillard

Arguably, all modern Bugattis could be classified as one-offs since these models are produced in limited numbers and are bespoked to a significant degree. The Chiron-derived Centodieci, for example, was limited to just 10 units. But what if you wanted a nameplate that no other millionaire/billionaire will have? Well, that’s when you sign-up for Bugatti’s Programme Solitaire, where you can create your one-off Bugatti. The Brouillard is the inaugural creation of the Programme Solitaire.

I know exactly what you’re thinking: this doesn’t look like a one-off; it’s a Mistral! And.. you’re kinda right. The Brouillard is based on the Mistral. It seems like one of Mistral customers asked Bugatti if they could build him/her essentially a coupe version of the Mistral, and Bugatti happily obliged—as long as the customer agreed to pay an enormous, undisclosed amount of money, of course. Just to give you an idea, the regular Mistral carried a base price of €5 million net in 2022, and how much the customer paid for this one-off can only be left up to your imagination.

Although at first glance the Brouillard looks exactly like the Mistral, it is not. There are some subtle yet noticeable differences, such as slightly different headlight housing, the shape of the grille, bonnet outlets, side fins, different wheels, and an arch-shaped rear wing, just to name a few. If you compare the models side-by-side, you may find more differences. The glass roof compensates for the lack of a literal airy experience.

Why are there a bunch of horses inside, you ask? Well, the name ‘Brouillard’ is a homage to Ettore Bugatti’s beloved horse. A majestic thoroughbred with a coat as white as the first snowfall, speckled with the subtle shades of a summer morning mist, Brouillard was no ordinary horse; he was the embodiment of everything Ettore admired: speed, beauty, and unparalleled grace, the company said in an official statement. The gear shifter is machined from a single block of aluminum and features a glass insert containing a miniature hand-crafted sculpture of Ettore’s favored horse and this car’s namesake.

Under the new Programme Solitaire, Bugatti plans to create two one-offs per year.
