TVS Motor Company has started to export the BMW G 310 R naked motorcycle to the international markets. The G 310 R’s platform and the engine has been jointly developed by the BMW Motorrad and TVS.
The duo signed the agreement in 2013, to jointly develop motorcycles in the 250 – 500 cc segment to be sold through their respective distribution network. The G 310 R is powered by the 313 cc single cylinder water-cooled 4-stroke engine, with an output of 34 hp @ 9500 rpm and 28 Nm of torque @ 7500 rpm. The engine is paired to a 6-Speed gearbox. Top speed is rated at 145 km/h.
Stopping power comes from 300 mm disc at front, and 240 mm at rear. The bike is priced at $4,750 (Rs 3.1 lakh) including BMW Motorrad ABS in the US market.
For the Indian market, the bike will be named as Akula, which would be launched under TVS brand, next fiscal.
