Tesla Roadster 2.0’s 10,000 Nm of torque is misleading

We all love debunking videos and articles, don’t we? Well, the Tesla Roadster 2.0, which made a “high torque” debut after the Tesla Semi unveil event, may not actually have the 10,000 Nm (7,375 lb-ft) of torque.

That torque number is misleading, says Jason Fenske of Engineering Explained. He points out that the Tesla website mentions the 10,000 Nm as “Wheel Torque”, which is totally different from the auto industry’s standard measure of engine torque. The video explains why that number is “stupid” and rather misleading.

He calculates that the new Roadster may actually produce around 1,000 hp and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque.
