Kimera K39 debuts with a Swedish collaboration

Kimera Automobili has revealed its 3rd offering, the K39, in both road-going and track-only formats. Kimera says that the track version has been conceived to confront some of the world’s most extreme racing environments, including the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. What’s more interesting is that this time, Kimera has collaborated with Koenigsegg.

Apparently, the K39 is Kimera’s interpretation of a Ferrari F40. But as someone commented on the internet, it looks as if an F40 had a one-night stand with a Lancia, more specifically the Lancia Beta Turbo Gr. 5. But either way, the K39 has an outrageously stunning silhouette with those gaps, gapes, spoilers, splitters, louvres, and a gigantic rear wing.

Those circular headlights have a hidden feature: by default, they’re just DRLs, and with a press of a button, the actual headlights pop-up into position. For suspension, the K39 uses pushrods front and rear. The machined aluminum wheels measure 20-inch at the front and 21-inch at the rear. Hiding behind the wheels are carbon ceramic discs.

The K39 Pikes Peak version pushes the extremeness to the max, and then some. Just look at those balcony-like wings at both ends. While we don’t have the full technical specifications yet, the K39, especially this track version, has been made mostly of carbon fibre. According to reports, only 10 units will be built. What about the road version? Maybe around 50, but I’m not sure.

The powerplant for the K39 comes from Koenigsegg. The 5.0L biturbo V8, the one you’ll find in the Jesko, in this application, is estimated to produce 735 kW (1,000 metric hp) and 1,200 Nm (885 lb-ft) with 95-octane fuel. The turbos here are a bit smaller. With a target weight of around 1,100 kg (~2,425 lbs), the power-to-weight ratio is gonna be sweet. What about the transmission? Well, it’s gonna be a CIMA 7-speed manual. Pretty sweet, eh? I know.
