Hyundai Santro returns with tallboy design

Hyundai India has revealed the second generation Santro to the media, ahead of its world premiere in New Delhi on October 23, 2018.

The new Santro retains the tallboy design which the original car was known for. The designers have also integrated Hyundai’s Signature Cascading Grille, with a chrome surround for a premium touch.

Notice the slight kink in the beltline which allows for a larger glass area for the rear passengers. Overall, the design language for the new Santro is called “Rhythmical Tension”.

As for the other details, the car comes with segment first 7-inch touchscreen infotainment which also offers Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink, Voice Recognition Function and rear camera display on the screen. The car also offers segment first rear AC vents and ‘Eco Coating Technology’ to prevent unpleasant odour to develop in the AC evaporator.

As for the safety, Hyundai said that the new Santro is built on a new platform with the application of 63% Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) + High Strength Steel (HSS), which helps in stiffness with improved structural connectivity. A driver’s airbag and ABS with EBD comes as standard.

Powering the new Santro is a 1.1-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that is claimed to offer low vibrations, superior performance and high fuel efficiency. The new Santro is also the first Hyundai model to offer an in-house developed AMT. There’ll be a factory-fitted CNG option as well.

Pre-bookings for the new Santro starts online from 10th October till 22nd October, for Rs 11,100 as a booking amount for the first 50,000 customers.
