The Tiago has been designed in Pune with inputs from Tata’s design centers in Coventry in UK, Turin in Italy. Tata Motors explains the IMPACT design language on which the Tiago is based, in a rather interesting way. The exterior design is defined through these three “EX” values – Exciting, Expressive & Extraordinary. Explaining what these mean to Tiago, “Expressive” stands for Confident and agile stance with the new multifaceted Tata emblem and signature hexagon grille. “Extraordinary” stands for Next generation sharp, sculpted design language makes the car rise above the crowd. And the last one “Exciting” stands for 3 dimensional headlamps with smoked lens and sporty black bezel, sharp tail lamps accentuate the sport stance.

Similarly, the interior design is defined by three “IN” values – Inviting, Intouch and Intelligent. “Inviting” stands for Layered design theme with a dual tone interior, customisable air vents and premium graphics on fabric, height adjustable seating with body hugging bolsters. “Intouch” means Premium finish with geometric texture, accented with chrome handles and premium knitted fabrics. “Intelligent” stands for Next-Gen ConnectNext infotainment system by Harman, complemented by the sporty instrument cluster pods. Multiple storage spaces designed for easy access. All controls within easy reach.

Tata says there are 22 intelligently designed storage spaces in the car for more practicality.

The Tiago is offered in 6 colors namely – Espresso Brown, Pearlescent White, Platinum Silver, Striker Blue, Sunburst Orange and Berry Red.

Powering the Tiago is Tata’s Revotron and Revotorq family of engines. The 1199 CC, 3 Cyl Revotron petrol engine produces 85 PS of power @ 6000 RPM and 114 Nm of torque @ 3500 RPM. The 1047 CC, 3 Cyl Revotorq diesel engine produces 70 PS of power @ 4000 RPM and 140 Nm of torque @ 1800-3000 RPM. Both engines are mated to a 5 Speed manual transmission. There are two driving modes which Tata claims first in the segment, namely power and eco for improved efficiency. The petrol variant gets an ARAI-certified fuel economy of 23.84Km/l and the diesel promises 27.28Km/l.

The Tiago is a feature packed vehicle and gets segment first features like smart phone enabled turn-by-turn navigation app, and a customized app called Juke-Car app which helps multiple users to play their playlists at the same time. Other key features are Harman developed infotainment system with bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted controls, an 8 speaker surround sound system, electronically adjustable ORVM with LED turn signals and alloy wheels.
