Vitara Brezza crosses 2 lakh bookings

Maruti Vitara Brezza

Maruti Suzuki has announced that its compact SUV Vitara Brezza has clocked over 2 lakh bookings in just 11 months. The sub-4 metre SUV was first showcased at 2016 Auto Expo in February, and was launched in March to rival the EcoSport, and has been a runaway success since then. The car also won Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2017 award declared by a consortium of 15 auto journalists.

Its compact dimensions, tried and tested diesel engine, wide dealer network and after sales, and recent introduction of iCreate customization program have hugely contributed to Brezza’s success. The car still has a waiting period of 4 to 5 months depending on the trim. Offered only with a DDiS 200 – the 1.3 litre 4 cylinder diesel engine with 89 hp and 200 Nm of torque, and only with a 5 Speed manual transmission. It’s been close to a year, and Maruti doesn’t seem to have immediate plans to introduce a petrol Brezza. But if you like rumors, a petrol version and an automatic option (most likely an AMT) will come in few months.

Maruti currently sells Brezza only in India.
