Lucid Air starts at $52,500

The Tesla competitor from California, Lucid Air has been in the news a lot lately giving test drives for the media fraternity and to the prospects. Now though, the startup has revealed the latest details on pricing and trims for the Air.

The base Lucid Air starts at $52,500, which is after $7,500 off with federal tax credit available to buyers of battery electric vehicles. For the base model, you’ll get 400 hp rear-wheel drive, with a 240-mile (386 km) range. Other equipment includes,

  • Hardware ready for autonomous driving
  • Two trunks, one in the front and one in the rear, with a combined storage capacity of over 32 cubic feet (906-litres)
  • 12-way power front seats
  • LED multi-lens array headlights
  • Four screens, with interactive-touch surfaces on three
  • 5-seat configuration with a rear bench seat
  • 10 airbags
  • Aluminum roof
  • 19-inch wheels
  • 10-speaker audio system

Software updates for the base Air will happen over-the-air. Available options include 315-mile (507 km) and 400-mile (644 km) range battery options, up to 1,000 hp twin-motor configuration with all-wheel drive, active suspension, glass-canopy roof, rear executive seats that recline up to 55 degrees, 22-way power front seats with heating, ventilation, dynamic bolsters, and massage, 21-inch Lucid-design wheels, 29-speaker audio system with active noise cancellation, and, last but not the least, expanded leather trim with corresponding material upgrades.

A fully loaded Lucid Air with the above mentioned options will cost you over $100,000. Lucid says they’re “not yet able to provide specific top-of-the-line pricing”.

The Launch Edition, limited to 255 units, will have top-specs, and will be priced over $100,000. These cars will have a 315-mile (507 km) range, 1,000 hp, autonomous driving hardware, 21-inch wheels, and an upgraded audio system for starters. “Some features, such as the rear executive seats, cannot yet be confirmed for early production. The Launch Edition cars will also have unique colors and badging, signifying their special nature. Additional details will be announced closer to the start of production,” says Lucid.

Interested folks can reserve the standard Air for a deposit of $2,500, and $25,000 for the Launch Edition. Remember, the standard cars will be produced after the 255 Launch Editions.
