Maruti Suzuki has teased the next-gen Dzire compact sedan, and says the launch is sometime in May, 2017. The new Dzire has been built on the same platform as the new Swift launched in Japan last year, and the compact sedan borrows design cues from the Ciaz as well. Spy shots surfaced couple of weeks ago on the internet offer a brief look.

While the front has a headlamps inspired from the new Swift, the side profile gets a “touch” of Ciaz. Maruti has worked towards differentiating the sedan from the hatch on which it is based.

The rear-end is unmistakably Dzire. The thick chrome bar which connects the tail lamps have been carried over. Maruti has tried to differentiate the interiors from the hatch as well. While the new Swift has circular air vents in the middle, the Dzire gets a large hexagonal shape. Similar change has been made to the instrument cluster.

The new Dzire is expected to carry the same engines, the 1.2 litre 4-cylinder petrol and 1.3 litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel. Transmission options are expected to continue to be 5 MT / 4 AT for petrol and 5 MT / AGS for the diesel.
