More details of the Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar has surfaced online just before the start of the Nurburgring 24 Hours.

The Project One, dubbed as the closest thing to a road-legal F1 car, uses technologies based on Lewis Hamilton’s 2015 Mercedes F1 W06 Hybrid, with a 1.6-litre V6 turbo which redlines at 13,500 rpm.

Including the V6, the hypercar has a total of five motors. Two electric motors are connected to the V6. While an 80 kW (109 hp) motor is to eliminate any turbo lag and keep it always spooled up, a 120 kW (163 hp) motor is connected to the crankshaft.

Two 120 kW motors are on the front axle to convert the hypercar into an all-electric ‘daily driver’ with a range of about 25 km (15 miles). The battery pack sits just behind the front axle on the carbon fibre chassis.

The combined horsepower of the hybrid powertrain is over 1,000 hp. The transmission will be an 8-Speed single-clutch (AMT).

AMG has planned to produce only 275 units, and all of them seem to have been sold out.
