Tata Motors electric Tigor Sanand plant

In case you missed it, Tata Motors has won a contract to supply 10,000 electric cars to Energy Efficiency Services Limited or EESL, where in the first phase, 500 of them has to be supplied in November 2017 which isn’t too far.

The company will be supplying electric version of the Tigor compact sedan, and plans to build them at the Sanand plant in Gujarat, reports PTI. Currently, the Sanand plant, which has an annual capacity of 2.5 lakh units, produces the conventional Tigor and the entry-level Nano.

Tata Motors might take assistance from its European Technical Centre in order to convert the Tigor into an electric vehicle. The TMETC in UK had previously converted the Bolt hatchback into an EV. Their most recent work is the Tiago EV.
