Current-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift production ends

Suzuki Swift Special Edition Bicolor

The final Maruti Suzuki Swift of the current generation has rolled off the production line on December 23, 2017. The team bid adieu to the last unit with a message that read “Last Swift: E07460. Glorious Journey Ends here, for a new beginning. Great Car by Great Team.”

The Swift has been a popular choice not only for the first time buyers, but also for those who want to upgrade from something like an 800 or an older car. The car was offered with 83 hp 1.2-litre (1,197 cc) K-Series petrol and a Fiat-sourced 74 hp 1.3-litre (1,248 cc) DDiS turbo diesel.

The 4th generation Swift (3rd gen in India) has already landed in the country and is busy shooting the commercials. The car is expected to be showcased and launched at the Auto Expo 2018, near Delhi.

Although the aforementioned engines are expected to be carried over, the new Swift is expected to be offered in a Hybrid variant as well. More on the Swift Hybrid here.
