Volvo Auto India has launched the second generation of its popular SUV, the XC60, priced at Rs 55.90 lakh ex-showroom, Pan India. The new XC60 is available only in the top-spec ‘Inscription’ trim in India.

The new generation XC60 is built on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), which also underpins the new XC90 and S90 as well. In India, there is only one engine on offer.

Speaking of which, the ‘D5’ 2.0-litre (1,969 cc) 4-cylinder twin-turbo diesel makes 235 PS and 480 Nm of torque. Transmission is an 8-speed automatic, sending power to all four wheels. The driver can choose from 5 driving modes – Eco, Comfort, Dynamic, Off-Road and Individual.

The engine boasts “PowerPulse technology”, which uses compressed air to eliminate the turbo lag. In the picture above, we can see an electrically-driven compressor and a pressurized air tank attached to the engine.

Key features include 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system, panoramic sunroof, air suspension, 4-zone climate control, perforated Nappa leather, front seat ventilation and massage with electrically operated extenders, 12.3-inch instrument cluster, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment, leather-wrapped dashboard, head-up display, distance alert, rear and front park assist pilot, 360-degree camera, Diamond-cut alloy wheels, power tailgate with hands-free operation and many more.

Charles Frump, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India, said – “The XC60 is not only one of our largest selling models globally but has been received well in India too. In fact, it makes up almost a third of our total sales here.”

Volvo recently started local assembly in Bengaluru, rolling out the new XC90.
