Ferrari too seems to have moved by the industry’s high torque investments on the electric and electrified vehicles. Chief Executive Officer Sergio Marchionne has revealed the plans of making a Tesla Roadster 2.0-competing electric supercar at the Detroit show, reports Bloomberg.

Marchionne, who heads both FCA and Ferrari, said, “If there is an electric supercar to be built, then Ferrari will be the first. People are amazed at what Tesla did with a supercar: I’m not trying to minimize what Elon did but I think it’s doable by all of us.”

But, before going all-electric, the plan is to introduce hybrid cars. “So going from there to an electric is easy,” he said. Ferrari already has experience with LaFerrari – which is a mild-hybrid.

Marchionne also confirmed that Ferrari will introduce its first SUV, which will be “the fastest on the market” by late 2019 or 2020.
