GM Cruise AV has no steering wheel, pedals or manual controls

GM-Cruise-Autonomous-Vehicle

If not all, most of the autonomous systems and vehicles that are currently under development promise to give the control back to the driver when he/she wishes so.

But, General Motors has filed a Safety Petition with the Department of Transportation for its self-driving Cruise AV, which the company claims to be the first production-ready vehicle to operate safely on its own, with no driver, steering wheel, pedals or manual controls.

No more information is available at the moment, but, according to media reports, the Cruise AV will be used for ride-hailing services such as Uber or Lyft.

In 2017, GM had announced $14 million investment for its subsidiary Cruise Automation. More on that here.
