BMW M5 voted World Performance Car 2018

The new BMW M5 has been voted “World Performance Car 2018” by the World Car Awards (WCOTY) jury which is made up of 82 influential motoring journalists from 24 countries. The award was bestowed at the New York International Auto Show.

There were a total of 11 performance-oriented cars in this category, and the M5 overcame Alfa Romeo Giulia, Audi RS3 Sedan, Honda Civic Type R and the Lexus LC 500.

The new M5 was globally unveiled in August 2017. It packs a 4.4-litre V8 TwinPower Turbo, delivering an output of 600 hp and a maximum torque of 750 Nm, enough to propel the M5 from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. An 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic transfers the power to all four wheels via M xDrive all-wheel drive system. Read more about the new M5 here.
