BMW has revealed the range-topping model of the new X2 – the X2 M35i which according to the company, is their most powerful compact Sports Activity Coupe.

As for the design, the crossover gets M Performance elements finished in Cerium Grey, which includes full HD headlamps, fog lamps, double kidney grille, newly designed side air intakes and the exterior mirror caps too.

At the rear, the X2 M35i boasts a distinctive M rear spoiler and two tailpipes of the M Sport exhaust system. Speaking of which, the exhaust system according to BMW, produces a particularly sporty sound spectrum.

The 19-inch M Sport light-alloy wheels or the optional 20-inch ones round off the exterior design features.

As with the exteriors, the basis for the interiors too is again the M Sport Package. Features include standard M Sport leather steering wheel and the optional M Sport seats which according to the company, offer not only perfect lateral support for both driver and front passenger in sharp bends, but also the highest level of comfort and safety through integrated headrests.

The aforementioned seats are available in three different designs: FabricTrigon/Alcantara combination in black with blue accents, Leather Dakota Magmared, perforated with black accents and Leather Dakota black perforated. Matching seatbelts in an M design are also on offer.

Which then brings us to the business end of the story. The 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo petrol engine in the X2 M35i is the brand’s most powerful 2.0L unit. It develops 225 kW (306 hp) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. The 8-speed Steptronic transmission sends power to all four wheels, and there is also a Launch Control. The X2 M35i is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.

BMW said that the M Sport suspension system has been specifically tuned and adapted to match the car’s sporty character. Buyers can opt for an adaptive suspension as well which comes with two different manually adjustable modes.

There is also an M Sport Differential installed in the front axle – first time for an M Performance vehicle. During highly dynamic driving manoeuvres, this locking differential reduces possible traction losses on the front wheels, the company said.

The M Sport braking system comes with calipers in Dark Blue metallic. The steel discs measure 18-inch at front and 17-inch at the rear.
