“Most modern cars nowadays are soulless machines with more similarities to an electrodomestic” (home appliances), says Daniel Soriano, a Swedish designer. Daniel, Arun Kumar, and Magnus Grettve together created the Ferrari Aliante as their thesis project in 2011, which took part in the Ferrari World Design Contest.

After a professional experience working for Lamborghini, Volvo Cars and Polestar, Daniel revisited the design after 7 years and decided to redesign it from scratch, just to understand how much he has improved over the years. And, what he ended up with is a modern-looking old-school hypercar. In fact, it looks like a bespoke one-off commissioned by a Ferrari VIP.

“Carbon fibre monocoque with integrated seats, some active aero bits, big scoops, no doors, no windows and no roof,” says Daniel.

According to the designer, the Ferrari Aliante Barchetta is powered by a naturally aspirated flat-12 with independent throttle bodies. Sounds delicious. “No electronic driving aids whatsoever,” he adds. “Modern hipsters will hate it.” However, what most of them (if not everyone) will love, is that gated manual transmission.
